Fossil Fuel Divestment Referendum Results

Resolved: In accordance with its guidelines for ethical investment, Yale should divest its endowment from those fossil fuel companies contributing the most to climate change and associated social harms. Yale undergraduates have voted to support divestment.

83.01% of voters approved of Yale divesting its endowment from those fossil fuel companies contributing the most to climate change and associated social harms.

52.56% of Yale undergraduate students voted in the referendum.

43.63% of Yale undergraduate students support divestment.

These results meet the guidelines required for the Yale College Council to support the referendum statement. YCC will present a position paper supporting the issue to the administration on behalf of Yale’s undergraduate students.
