Fall at Yale

Academic Review

During the 2010-2011 academic year, the Yale College Council Academic Review Committee promoted a language certificate program which would recognize students who take between four and six language classes (including several beyond L5) by rewarding a certificate upon graduate. A senior requirement may include study abroad or research in the language of study. The committee produced a report which explored and suggested improvements regarding the writing and quantitative reasoning requirements, student advising, and Credit/D/Fail options. During the 2011-2012 academic year, YCC planed to continue to pursue the implementation of a language certificate program along with the other proposals in last year’s report.

The goal of the committee is to bring a student perspective to the administration regarding these issues. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns for the committee, please email the YCC executive board.
