Leigh Hamilton (BK 2015) is proud to be a Berkeleyite and honored to be one of BK’s YCC reps. She hails from Colorado Springs, and skis and snowboards when she gets the chance. She loves playing for the club soccer team at Yale, as well as about every IM sport offered (innertube water polo is her favorite). She has had the extraordinary opportunity to travel in Central and Eastern Europe as well as the Middle East, and has developed a love for international relations because of her experiences. She is a hopeful Global Affairs or Economics major. In Berkeley, she is active as a Master’s Aide. She can be contacted by anyone at any time for any reason at leigh.hamilton@yale.edu!

Josh Barrett (Branford 2015) is a sophomore proudly serving Branford College on the YCC. Last year on the Freshman Class Council, he was the event planner for Freshman Screw, one of the best nights of the year. He is looking forward to planning more events as part of the YCC and working on improving the technology scene at Yale. He is majoring in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology, and he plans to go to medical school after college. He also teaches for Community Health Educators and always enjoy a workout in Payne Whitney Gym. She plays on the women’s club basketball team, enjoys going on runs, and is currently on day 12 of the 60 in the Insanity workout program. Random facts: She’s from the best city in the world, Chicago, and has the cutest puppy ever, named Snookie. She is 87% certain that she will declare economics as her major. Dressing in business casual attire is one of her guilty pleasures. Take her out to an all-you-can-eat sushi dinner and you’ll become best friends. Feel free to contact her at martha.glodz@yale.edu.

Calhoun

David Lawrence (Calhoun 2015) is an economics major hailing from the city of Lawrence in the great state of Kansas. He was once a man of the outdoors, but has now been tamed somewhat by academic life. When not taking care of his pet buffalo Max or chatting with experts on North Korea, he enjoys Calhoun College Council meetings, writing for The Politic, and directing SCSY committees. He also knows an absurd amount about jitneys and has a Yorkshire terrier named Yoda. Feel free to contact him at david.lawrence@yale.edu.

Sara Samuel (Calhoun 2015) is a proud member of the Class of 2015 and Calhoun College. In addition to her duties on the YCC, she is a member of the Calhoun College Council’s Executive Board, a Master’s Aide, and a researcher at the Yale School of Medicine. In her spare time, Sara enjoys watching nature documentaries, wearing fuzzy socks, and eating allergen-free baked goods. She can often be found in Blue State feeding her caffeine addiction or on the train to NewYork City. Feel free to contact her at sara.samuel@yale.edu.

Davenport

Djenab Conde (Davenport 2015) is easily noticed on campus not only for her big big hair but for her sass, her use of the word “punk” and for her original laugh.  Djenab is hardworking and dedicated to everything she does and will be a spirited Davenport YCC Rep, never afraid to voice her opinion and state her ideas. Djenabwants to focus on academic and dining reform as well as planning “killer” events during her time on YCC. Djenab is Co-Fashion Director of Runway Inc., heads the cultural group HAPA, and loves IMs. And of course, she’s always seen shakin’ her booty wherever she goes and thus will be trying out Dance Works this year. Feel free to contact her with any questions or ideas you may have! Feel free to contact her at djenab.conde@yale.edu. Written by Rachel Tobin.

Rachel Tobin (Davenport 2015) hails from sunny L.A. and is super excited to be on YCC this year! She was active on Freshman Class Council last year and is interested in academic and dining reform. She’s currently undecided on a major but she is pre-med. Rachel loves soccer thus she plays Club Soccer along with IM soccer. Once you’ve met Rachel once, you’ll recognize her voice a mile away (literally, anywhere on campus). She’s also a Community Health Educator and loves tutoring kids through TIES. A real Cali girl, you can often spot Rachel in cut-off shorts and loose shirts with her  blonde hair shining in the sun. Feel free to contact her with any questions and ideas, and she’ll squeeze you in between sleeping and snacking. Feel free to contact her at rachel.tobin@yale.edu. Written by Djenab Conde.

Ezra Stiles

Arash Fereydooni (ES 2015) is very proud to be representing Ezra Stiles in YCC. Though he hails from Southern California, he is one of those weird people who doesn’t like the sun and is actually okay with New Haven’s bipolar weather. Academically, Arash loves everything science, especially physics and biology. He is so passionate about sharing his experience with his peers about inventing, patenting, robotics, and having lived in the Middle East. His friends are immensely grateful for his 24/7 availability for tutoring, and he promises to be just as available to talk about everything YCC (and just life in general). He loves soccer, biology research, traveling, and Wenzels. If you have any questions or concerns (or want to make a trip to Alpha Delta), contact him at arash.fereydooni@yale.edu.

Rohan Goswami (ES 2015) is absolutely delighted to be representing Ezra Stiles in the YCC  from his hood down in Baltimore. Rohan is almost as fond of sciences as Arash is and is currently a pre-med considering economics as a major. He is passionate about food and lollygagging, and is always down for a game of super smash brothers. He spends his time singing and playing badminton, and is excited to hear your ideas and help shape the future of YCC. For questions or comments, contact him at rohan.goswami@yale.edu.

Jonathan Edwards

Bechir-Auguste Pierre (JE 2015) is a rising sophomore and a Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry major due to its interdisciplinary nature. As of now, he hopes to pursue an MD/PhD degree if he has not decided to go instead to dental school to become an oral surgeon. Bechir loves giving back to the community. When he is not playing on the Men’s Club Volleyball team or helping JE dominate intramurals, he provides health instruction to at-risk youth in the New Haven community through the Community Health Educators. In addition, he mentors at Hillhouse High School weekly as a member of the Black Men’s Union. He loves meeting new people and building friendships. In his spare time, Bechir maintains his passion for music by playing the trumpet and the piano. Feel free to contact him at bechir-auguste.pierre@yale.edu.

He also serves on the Junior Class Council, climbs for the Yale Climbing Team, is on the E-Board of the Liberal Party, and works as a Master’s Aide in Jonathan Edwards. Nick is an EP&E major from Virginia who loves cycling, traveling, photography, and cheering for the Washington Capitals. He is really excited for all of the awesome events that YCC has planned for the upcoming year. He is an Economics major from Santa Barbara, California and served as Pierson’s representative to the Freshman Class Council last year. Jeremy is also a Yale Tour Guide and a member of the Club Basketball team. He is a passionate scuba diver and loves to go for long walks on the beach with his soul mate (re: Golden Retriever named Allie). He harbors an obsession for Abraham Lincoln that borders on the unhealthy and is easily baited into intense political discussions (just because you yell doesn’t make it an argument right? RIGHT!?!?). Questions? Concerns? Comments on his driving? Contact him at jeremy.hutton@yale.edu.

Saybrook

Mohammad Salhut (Saybrook 2014) is originally from the Bronx, New York. Previously, Mohammad was on the Yale College Council as a freshman, where he served on the events committee. Feel free to contact her at victoria.stringfellow@yale.edu.

Timothy Dwight

Ehrik Aldana (TD 2015) is a sophomore who hails from a number of places he calls home including Timothy Dwight College, Seattle, Washington, Washington D.C., and Stuttgart, Germany. Aside from being a representative on YCC, Ehrik is a tenor with the Yale Alley Cats, a baritone with the Yale Glee Club, and a casual karaoke-enthusiast at KASAMA the Filipino Club at Yale. He also enjoys hammocks, studying international development, watching film, Community, practicing Chinese, and indulging in all things delicious. Interested? Contact him at ehrik.aldana@yale.edu.

Eugene Yi (TD 2015) is excited to represent the best damn college at Yale. A Laredo native, Eugene is proud to be part of the 0.3%–of Asians in America’s least diverse city. But his interests are diverse indeed, ranging from his membership in the Dominican Students Association (where he stands out not in the slightest) to the Yale Student Investment Group where he is the Head of Energy and Mining. He was once voted runner-up King of Life, therefore making him the 2010-2011 Prince of Life. This is someone you want on your side, so it’s a good thing he is on everyone’s side with this whole YCC thing. If you ever want to talk about anything, email him at eugene.yi@yale.edu!

Trumbull

Paul Parell (Trumbull 2015) is a sophomore in Trumbull College. He hails from Versailles (pronounced “Ver-sails”), Kentucky, and last year he served as Treasurer for the Freshman Class Council. Class Council Presidents

Nancy Xia (Silliman 2015) is the Sophomore Class Council President. She is a modern art lover and happiness pursuer. Her hobbies include obsessive spreadsheeting, compulsive laughing, and contemplating the reality of her existence. Inquiries about her happy-go-lucky lifestyle should be directed to nancy.xia@yale.edu.

Caroline Smith (Davenport 2014) is the Junior Class Council President. Contact her for any questions at caroline.smith@yale.edu.

Associates

Andrew Sobotka (Jonathan Edwards 2015) has graduated from class clown of FCC to an associate member of YCC, where for the sake of the rest of the council, he’ll try to speak only when spoken to or when he has something relatively constructive to add to the conversation. When not in YCC meetings, Andrew might be doing things with The Whaling Crew or Community Health Educators, but he’s equally likely to be nurturing his obsession with Russia, re-watching The Wire, or throwing rocks at benches while lying down on a hammock in the JE courtyard. Feel free to contact him at andrew.sobotka@yale.edu.

J.R. Reed (Silliman 2015) is very excited to be joining the YCC this year as a Freshman Associate Member to help rep Sillimander pride. Although his major is currently undecided, he is pretty sure it will either be Economics or Political Science. Outside of the YCC, J.R. is a reporter for the Yale Daily News, serves as a member of Silliman Activities and Administrative Committee (SAAC), and has been involved with the Yale College Democrats. He currently plays defense for Yale’s Club Hockey Team (both of his parents are from Canada – so you can’t expect much different there). J.R. loves all kinds of music, and he has been known to spontaneously start some crazy dance parties in his Silliman suite. As a native of the Windy City, he is a huge Blackhawks and Lake Michigan fan, but surprisingly doesn’t love deep dish as a Chicagoan probably should. He enjoys playing Fishbowl and ping-pong, watching Entourage and Parks and Recreation, and cheering on his roommate at Yale hockey games at the Whale. If you’re looking for someone to go see an awesome concert with or want to grab some delicious Italian Ice in New Haven, contact him at jonathan.t.reed@yale.edu.

Benjamin Ackerman (Timothy Dwight 2016) is very excited to be joining the YCC this year as a Freshman. Even though he does not know what he wants to major in, Ben is interested in Mechanical Engineering and Political Science. He is an avid lover of all things TD (Ashé!) – and is particularly proud of not living on Old Campus this year. In addition to YCC, Ben is a member of Mott Woolley (TD’s College Council), the Yale College Democrats and Squash Haven. He enjoys being a “Techie” for various performances on campus. He loves to cook (and eat!) as well as watch some of his favorite shows (24 and The Newsroom in particular). Ben is also the YCC Webmaster. Feel free to contact him at benjamin.ackerman@yale.edu

Andrew Grass (Jonathan Edwards 2016) joined the YCC as the Freshman Class Council Chair and Associate YCC Member. Andrew is interested in majoring in something related to Economics and International Relations. As well as serving on YCC, he is a JE FCC Representative, plays JE Intramurals, and reads for Directed Studies. As a Floridian born in LA, Andrew loves the Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Dodgers, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Feel free to contact him at andrew.grass@yale.edu

Michael Leopold (Morse 2016) proudly represents Morse on the FCC, and is also involved in Ivy Council. After happily serving as the FCC’s co-chair for the Freshman Barbecue, Michael joined YCC because he heard there was free food. He hails from the small town of Chesterton, Indiana, and is willing to bet you have never heard of it. Interested in psychology and economics, Michael is planning to study Cognitive Science with a concentration in behavioral economics. When he’s not studying, Michael enjoys public speaking, chilling with his fellow Morsels, and blasting Maroon 5 in his dorm. He is unceasingly sociable, so hit him up at michael.leopold@yale.edu.

Vicky Tu (Davenport 2016) is associate member of YCC and External Finance Liaison of Ivy Council. She is interested in law and community activism. Vicky is from the Bay Area, and misses all the good Asian food. Outside of YCC, she is an avid piccolo player and flutist in the Yale Precision Marching Band and Yale Concert Band, respectively. A little known fact about Vicky is that she hates sour cream. Feel free to email her at vicky.tu@yale.edu.
