Science Subcommittee

Every year, Yale College Council candidates vow to find ways to improve the experience of science and engineering majors at Yale. It’s about time those promises became a reality.

We are excited to announce the creation of the Yale College Council Science and Engineering Subcommittee, or SES. Comprised of six undergraduates majoring in the sciences or engineering, the committee will meet once a week and be tasked with focusing specifically on those issues that impact science and engineering majors. The ultimately goal of the committee, which will also include one YCC member who is a science or engineering major, will be to effect tangible change during the 2011-2012 school year. Though the committee will operate autonomously, at least one member will be responsible for attending the YCC general council meeting on Sundays to give periodic reports on the progress that SES is making.

The committee will look to tackle realistic goals to be pursued in the short-term things that can really make things better for you, as well as continuing to push for longer-term issues such as lab credit reform.

Every year, science and engineering majors are under-represented on the YCC; it’s important to have a council aware of the issues affecting science and engineering majors and willing to advocate them.

Don’t hesitate to email us if you have any questions, comments or concerns. We’d love to hear from you!
